First, if your solder seams are properly beaded up, they will easily withstand any brushing that would normal;ly be done in the process of puttying and cleaning the leaded postion. I have always patinaed after puttyinmg, but doing it first proabble will do no harm unless overly enthusiastc brushing might rub odd some patine.
